About Campo de' Fiori
Every morning except Sunday, this piazza transforms into Rome's most photogenic open-air market. Vendors sell seasonal produce, dried pasta, spices, olive oil, and flowers under striped awnings. The quality is genuine, though prices are slightly tourist-inflated compared to neighborhood markets. The statue of Giordano Bruno in the center stares down grimly, marking where he was burned for heresy in 1600. By late afternoon the market packs up and the piazza pivots to its second life: one of Rome's liveliest aperitivo and nightlife hubs.

Getting there
Tips, answered
Market runs Monday through Saturday, roughly 7 AM to 2 PM. Come before 9 AM for the freshest produce and fewest crowds. Buy spice blends and dried porcini as souvenirs. In the evening, the bars fill up fast; grab an outdoor table at Caffe Farnese for people-watching without the markup of the piazza-facing spots.
Plan for about 1 hour. Morning visits are typically less crowded.
Campo de' Fiori is in the Centro Storico neighborhood of Rome. The address is Campo de' Fiori, 00186 Roma RM, Italy. The area is well-served by metro.
Morning visits, especially early, mean fewer crowds and better light for photos. Weekdays are significantly quieter than weekends.
Comfortable shoes are recommended. Check the weather forecast and dress in layers, especially in shoulder seasons.
