Ashmolean Museum

The Ashmolean is the University of Oxford's museum of art and archaeology, founded in 1683, and the oldest public museum in the world still in operation. Carfax Tower is the 74-foot stone survivor of St Martin's Church, demolished in 1896 but for this stubborn 13th-century bell tower.
